What is CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment)?

What is CoE?

Confirmation of enrolment (COE) is proof that you are qualified to attend a university after receiving the offer letter that states that you have accepted your spot. You’ll need it when you apply for a student visa to study in Australia.

Your COE contains information about you, the program you are studying, the estimated cost, and the duration of your study. A Confirmation of Enrolment typically contains important information such as the student's full name, student identification number, program or course details, commencement and completion dates, and any other relevant details specific to the institution or program. It may also include information about tuition fees, payment deadlines, and any conditions or requirements that need to be met to maintain enrolment.

What is Conditional CoE?

You might be able to accept a conditional offer that is contingent upon final results early and receive a conditional Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). For assistance with the student visa application, a conditional COE is provided. Your admission to your programme is subject to your ability to satisfy and provide evidence that you have satisfied the conditions, which are mentioned on the COE. You will be granted a conditional COE if you satisfy the requirements listed below:

  • You're enrolled in your final college term.
  • You've met the criteria in English.
  • You've provided official proof of your academic credentials.
  • Completed the application for a conditional COE.

When will You Receive CoE?

Only once you’ve completed the following steps will you obtain official Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) documentation:

  • If your application to study was successful, you have formally accepted the university’s invitation to study.
  • You’ve paid your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) fee for the term of your chosen visa.
  • You have completed the first semester of your studies and paid your tuition expenses.

How to get CoE?

The Confirmation of Enrolment Application must be completed by continuing international students who presently have or are seeking a new student visa. You must keep track of the expiration date of your Confirmation of Enrolment and your student visa at all times to ensure that they stay valid. To apply for a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE), you must:

  • Fill out the Confirmation of Enrolment Application with your personal information
  • Pay the fees as specified on the Confirmation of Enrollment form
  • Your Confirmation of Enrolment application will be reviewed, and if accepted, your COE will be emailed to your student email account.

In what circumstances your CoE can be cancelled?

Your Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) may be revoked by the University for a number of reasons. Your COE might be cancelled, for instance, if you have:

  • Not enrolling in any courses
  • You didn't pay your tuition.
  • You have been prohibited from pursuing further education by the university's Unsatisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
  • You've made the decision to put off finishing your schooling till later.
  • Made the decision to discontinue my university education.
  • Selected a different educational institution as a new choice.
  • Early completion of your education.

What if your CoE is cancelled?

If the International Student Support office cancels your COE, they will inform you of the termination date. Following the notification, you will have 28 days to take one of the following actions:

  • Leave Australia
  • Apply for a different visa
  • Apply to have your COE reinstated

After the 28-day period elapses, the Department of Home Affairs may cancel your student visa at any time. It is crucial to adhere to the given timeline and communicate with the appropriate authorities to ensure compliance with visa regulations and resolve any issues related to your COE.
